Warning: Before you read on, there may be spoilers in this review.

After reading this week’s translated issue of Naruto 508 from MangaStream.com, I was quite pleased with the current development of the series. The last issue left us wondering what would happen after Kisame bit his tongue to wake himself up, so as to not leak out any information from his mind, after being knocked out by Guy, which by the way was one awesome fight scene.

Issue 508 leaves some of us Kisame fans sad, as we say farewell to one of the most beloved Akatsuki members. Kisame was known for wielding the amazing sword “Samehada”, having a huge amount of chakra energy, and being a sneaky and devious character. SPOILER ALERT: Kisame’s death was orchaestrated quite beautifully, with his flashback to his first meeting with Uchiha Itachi. The death was one of a “true shinobi”, as they described it in the manga, and Masashi Kishimoto does a good job of making sure that one of the series’ most beloved character dies a death of a noble shinobi by sacrificing himself for the greater good of his comrades, which leaves Naruto befuddled at the thought that even bad guys will risk their lives for their comrades.

What happens next caught me by surprise. The ingenious plan of Kisame to rig the scroll with a trap left me asking more questions as to what the contents of the scroll actually were. With Naruto and his friends trapped, the question is, will they be able to get the scroll before it reaches the hands of Akatsuki? You’ll just have to wait until Naruto 509 comes out, and I can’t wait to see the next battle between the Akatsuki members Konan and Tobi/Madara.
